Marisa Gebhardt
I am a self taught artist, from a rural Kemptville. I first began painting, with acrylics, after finishing high school in 1995.. Frustrated with the fast drying time of acrylics, I decided to try oils – and I never went back. The majority of my work is done in oil, however I also do some sketching in graphite, and occasionally I work with pastels, coloured pencils, and watercolour. After earning a diploma in Interior Design from Algonquin College between 1996-1999, I decided that path was not right for me: I had to paint. Since then I have participated in local art shows, and displayed my work at a number of local venues. My work is also in private collections in Canada, Germany, and Switzerland Nature is my biggest inspiration, and my greatest love; therefore landscapes and nature details form the largest part of my work. I also enjoy the challenge of painting still life, and florals, and the occasional portrait. Most recently my work has focused on the theme of forest paths.
