Barbara Buchanan

Barbara Buchanan grew up surrounded by an artistic family that drew, painted, worked with Stain Glass, jewellery and the fibre arts. From an early age Barbara loved to draw and paint animals and went on to graduate in Fine Arts at John Abbott College in Montreal, Quebec. Throughout the years Barbara dabbled in various mediums from oils, to water colours to Acrylics and sold various works privately.

Today Barbara works with leather as her new canvas of choice for her paintings. As a lover of Animals, Nature, and the Medieval/Renaissance Times - Barbara draws from these to create unique Whimsical sculptures, hand-bags and other various leather goods. Each piece has been meticulously shaped, some tooled, hand-painted or dyed and all hand-sewn using the best quality leathers and hardware available.

Barbara derives great joy in creating each piece. Her animal works often make her laugh as these creatures “come to life” looking up at her from beneath her paint brush!
