Lee Atkinson

Lee has spent the last thirty years as a professional in the Ottawa animation community. During the 80’s and 90’s he painted landscapes and rural images of the Ottawa Valley, in a magic realism style and his work has been exhibited in galleries in Ottawa, Brockville, and Toronto.

This latest series of paintings weave elements of fantasy, whimsy and colour to create a very graphic style. Each painting begins life as a small doodle, collected in Lee’s sketch from his years in animation. The doodles are then expanded into full-fledged paintings and brought to life through the artists brush. With over 1,000 doodles in his sketchbook, there is no shortage of inspiration for this series of paintings.
